What this is for
- Review the active DNS zone.
- Add, edit and remove supported records.
- Understand how DNS relates to web, mail and SSL.
Before you start
- Obtain the exact record name, type and value from the service you are connecting.
- Take a copy or screenshot of any record you plan to edit or delete.
Take care
The values shown in screenshots belong to the demo environment. Never copy them to another domain unless they are the exact assigned values.
Steps

Open Websites, select the correct website and choose Domains across the top.

Open the correct domain, then choose DNS records in the left-hand section menu.

Locate the exact row by checking Type, Host, Value and TTL. Similar-looking rows can power different services, so do not rely on the host name alone.

Press the three dots at the far right of that DNS row. The menu shown in the screenshot contains Edit and Delete.

Choose Edit, change only the value requested by the service provider, and save. If the hostname or type must change, check whether Enhance requires a replacement record instead.

Choose Delete only after confirming no website, mailbox, verification or third-party service depends on that row.

Wait for the table to show the intended value, then validate the live record with a public DNS lookup after the previous TTL has expired.
Check it worked
- The saved record appears once in the table with the intended hostname, value and TTL.
- A public DNS lookup returns the new answer after caching has expired.
What the controls do
| Control | What it means |
|---|---|
| A / AAAA | Points a hostname to an IPv4 or IPv6 address. |
| CNAME | Aliases one hostname to another hostname. |
| MX | Routes inbound email; lower priority numbers are preferred. |
| TXT | Publishes verification, SPF and other text policies. |
