Set recovery contacts and account alerts

Keep important security and quota notifications going to an address you can access.

Where Tools → Preferences → Contact Information / Account Preferences

Before you start

  • Use a reliable address outside this hosting account where possible, so a hosting/mail problem does not block recovery messages.
  • Have authority to change account contact details and keep a secondary contact up to date.

Steps

  1. 1

Open Contact Information, or the Contact Information section of Account Preferences.

  2. 2

Enter the primary and optional secondary email addresses carefully. These are notification/recovery contacts, not new hosted mailboxes.

  3. 3

Review Contact Preferences. Consider retaining alerts for contact/password changes, quota limits and two-factor changes; login notifications may have extra dependent options.

  4. 4

Save the notification section and check the resulting confirmation. If adding an external notification token such as Pushbullet, keep it private and review the external service’s permissions first.

  5. 5

Complete any password confirmation required by the form and use that section’s Save or Save Changes button. Different preference sections have separate save controls.

Contact addresses and notification preferences are account-level settings.
  6. 6

Review AutoSSL Notifications separately. The shown default covers failures and deferrals; disabling notifications can hide a certificate problem that needs attention.

The newer Account Preferences page groups several independently saved sections.

Check it worked

  • Return to the settings and confirm the intended contact addresses and options remain.
  • Ensure the contact mailbox can receive messages and investigate missing alerts with support.
