Set up calendars, contacts and sharing

Connect a calendar client, create a collection and understand delegate permissions.

Where Tools → Email → Calendars and Contacts Configuration / Management / Sharing

Before you start

  • Use the intended mailbox’s credentials and connection settings.
  • Agree who needs read-only or editing access before sharing private collections.

Steps

  1. 1

Open Calendars and Contacts Management and click Create for a new collection.

  2. 2

Use the collection’s edit action to rename it. Do not delete a collection just to rename it; contained data can be lost.

  3. 3

Open Calendars and Contacts Sharing to manage delegates. Choose the owner, collection and intended recipient, granting only necessary permissions.

  4. 4

Open Calendars and Contacts Configuration. Use its secure server/direct URLs in a CalDAV calendar or CardDAV contacts client, with the indicated account username and password.

    Copy secure, account-specific connection settings.
  5. 5

Choose Calendar, Address Book or Task List, enter a Collection Name, and optionally a colour and description. Click Submit when ready.

Choose the collection type and name.
  6. 6

If No Additional Email Account Exists appears, a separate mailbox is required first.

The sharing screen explains when another email account is required.

Check it worked

  • Create a harmless test event or contact in your client and confirm synchronisation.
  • Check sharing from the recipient’s account and verify read/edit access matches your intent.
