Create thumbnails, resize or convert images

Use cPanel’s Images tools on backed-up copies, then check your website references.

Where Tools → Files → Images

Before you start

  • Keep the original images. Scaling or format conversion can lose information.
  • Confirm which directory contains the intended images.

Steps

  1. 1

Browse to the intended directory. Use Thumbnailer for small previews of a folder’s images, not to resize every original website image blindly.

  2. 2

For Scaler, select the image and set the requested dimensions or percentage. Keep the aspect ratio when you do not want stretching.

  3. 3

For Converter, select the intended file or directory and the destination image type. Check any option to apply changes to a whole directory.

  4. 4

Review the preview and destination/backup options before running the selected operation. Use a copy first if the effect is uncertain.

  5. 5

Open Images and choose Thumbnailer, Scaler or Converter according to the task.

Choose the image operation before selecting files.

Check it worked

  • Open the output and check dimensions, quality and transparency.
  • If filenames or extensions changed, update the website references; creating a converted image does not automatically edit your pages.
