Find and upload website files

Locate the correct website folder before uploading or creating files.

Where Tools → Files → File Manager

Before you start

  • Check the domain’s Document Root in Domains. The main site commonly uses public_html; additional sites may use different folders.
  • Back up existing files before replacing them. Never upload credentials or private backups into a public website directory.

Steps

  1. 1

Open File Manager. Use the folder tree on the left and the path above the file list to confirm your current location.

  2. 2

Click Upload in the top toolbar. On the upload screen, verify the destination and choose your local files. Only enable overwrite if you intend to replace matching filenames.

  3. 3

Wait for each transfer to finish, then return to File Manager and use Reload to refresh the list.

  4. 4

To create a small empty file or folder instead, use + File or + Folder, enter a name and confirm the target directory.

  5. 5

For a ZIP deployment, upload the archive, select it and use Extract. Confirm the destination and inspect the resulting folder structure before moving anything into the live document root.

  6. 6

Double-click the intended folder in the file list. Use Home or Up One Level if you need to move back. Do not assume every domain uses public_html.

The path and selected directory matter; Upload is in the top toolbar.

Check it worked

  • Check filenames and sizes in the target directory.
  • Open the expected website URL. If the old page remains, check the document root, homepage filename and cache before uploading again.
