Use File and Directory Restoration when enabled
Restore a specific path from cPanel’s own backup system, if your provider enables it.
Where Tools → Files → File and Directory Restoration
Before you start
- This feature relies on cPanel backup metadata; it is not the same as JetBackup.
- Keep a current copy of the file before overwriting it with an older version.
Steps
-
1
If enabled, choose Enter a path or Browse files and directories. Use a path relative to the account’s home directory.
-
2
Select the intended file or folder and click Show Backups.
-
3
Review the available dates and choose a version from before the problem. Check the target name and restore scope before confirming Restore.
-
4
If the interface says Backup Status is disabled, only your server administrator can enable the underlying feature. Check JetBackup or Backuply separately rather than assuming no backups exist anywhere.
-
5
Open File and Directory Restoration and read any availability message.
This server reports that cPanel Backup Status is disabled, so the restore controls are unavailable.
Check it worked
- Confirm successful restoration and inspect the restored file.
- Test the affected page or application and compare its content with the intended date.
