Manage a domain and force HTTPS

Inspect a domain’s folder, related tools and HTTPS redirect controls.

Before you start

  • Install a valid certificate before forcing visitors onto HTTPS.
  • Have a backup before changing document roots or removing domains.

Steps

    Click Manage on the domain’s row. Use the Document Root link to open its files, or the related links for email, DNS zones and redirects.

    For an eligible additional domain, use the configuration controls offered to change its document root. Changing the path does not automatically move your files.

    Back in the domain list, use Force HTTPS Redirect only when the certificate is valid and the site works over HTTPS. Read the warning if the control is disabled.

    For removal, use the domain’s removal action only after checking dependent websites and email. Removing a cPanel domain does not cancel its registration with your registrar.

    Open Domains and search for the address. Review Document Root and Redirects To. On a narrow screen, expand View details to reveal hidden columns.

    The main domain may say No configuration options currently exist. Do not expect it to offer the same editable fields as an additional domain.

Check it worked

  • Open both the HTTP and HTTPS versions and confirm the intended final address.
  • Check the site, mail and DNS after an intentional domain change.
